i.d Colour Wash can be used on Feature walls, bedrooms, hallways and living rooms. Wattyl i.d Colour Wash must be used over a base such as Wattyl i.d Low Sheen. When using i.d Colour Wash on interior surfaces, we recommend using Wattyl i.d Low Sheen. When using i.d Colour Wash on exterior surfaces, we recommend using Wattyl Solagard Low Sheen.

Wattyl i.d Colour Wash Finish is a durable finish that will maintain its integrity long after application. The surface will not deteriorate rapidly with time unlike traditional lime wash paints.

The rear wall of the lounge room above has a base coat of i.d Low Sheen 'Fudge' with a top coat of 'Rich Chocolate Wash'.

Follow these simple instructions to achieve your Colour Wash Effect:

Step 1 – Apply 2 coats of Wattyl i.d Low sheen in your chosen colour. Depending on the finish you wish to achieve, you can use a brush or a roller.

Step 2 – Use a brush or a roller to apply the i.d Colourwash Finish in random directions ensuring that all areas are covered. Alternatively, use a criss-cross or any if the techniques shown below to achieve different Colourwash effects.

APPLICATION TECHNIQUES

Brush - Using a dry brush apply i.d Colour Wash in random directions, ensuring that all areas are covered. Alternatively, use a criss-cross technique or a plait technique to achieve different final effects.

Paint Pad - This is a quick and easy method to apply an even coat of i.d Colour Wash. Dampen the pad with water and squeeze out excess moisture. Dip pad into paint in a roller try and spread evenly over the pad. Apply in random directions or by using the criss-cross or plait techniques previously described.

Roller - Depending on the texture of the base surface, using a roller will disperse i.d Colour Wash evenly, allowing the texture or pattern to show through. Use a long nap roller for rough or uneven surfaces.

Spray - Dilute with 5-10% water as desired. Spray by using a moving circular motion. To enhance the weathered look, apply more heavily in patches if desired.
